Kahulanui at Kahilu Theatre

December 16, 2017

Come celebrate the Holidays with Kahulanui and their latest album Mele Ho’oilina – A Musical Legacy on December 16, 2017 at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea on the big island (67-1186 Lindsey Road). Concert starts at 7:00pm. Tickets available online at www.kahilutheatre.org (Section A $68, Section B $48 and Section C $25) and at the box office.

Take a trip back in time to an era when Hawaiian culture and music blended fluidly with American Jazz – a beautiful melding that came to be known as Hawaiian Swing! Experience an evening of Big Band music as Grammy-award nominated, Kahulanui takes you on a journey through the decades.

This past summer, Kahulanui travelled to Orlando Florida for the grand opening of Universal Studio’s new waterpark, Volcano Bay Resort. Their music is on the instructional video, How to Tapu Tapu. All visitors learn how to use the wristbands (tapu tapu) for the waterpark. See this fun video at:  https://youtu.be/bFCS8ipgr5Y

Kahulanui is:

Originator Lena Naipo on lead vocals and guitar, Patrick Eskildsen on bass guitar and vocals, Duke Tatom on ukulele and vocals, Tim Taylor on drums/percussion, and Dwight Tokumoto on steel guitar.

Horn section: Jesse Snyder on clarinet and tenor sax, Bill Noble on alto saxophone, Joshua Timmons on trumpet, and Vincent D’Angelo on trombone.
